Llangorse SC send biggest entry to Draycote

The Topper class kick off their 2016 / 2017 national series this weekend with the Volvo / GJW Direct National Series 1 event at Draycote Water.

Llangorse sailors will be there in force and hoping to start their season in style.

The Topper class hold six national traveller events at various venues around the UK each year running from late summer right through into the following year, closing with their National Championship in August.  The events attract big entries and have a friendly atmosphere, catering for sailors of all levels.  The 5.3 fleet sees between 140 and 160 sailors taking part and this grows through the year to a fleet of 200+ at the National Championships; while the Topper 4.2 fleet attracts around 40 boats for each event; and there’s a regatta fleet at the Inland and National Championships too.

Sailors travel from all corners of the UK from the north of Scotland and the far west of Cornwall.  In the last couple of years Llangorse’s band of travelling young sailors have grown with as many as a dozen sailors heading off to these events making the club a national stronghold for the class.  This weekend ten of our young sailors head to Draycote, and once again Llangorse SC will be the biggest represented club at the event!

All our sailors will be competing in the Topper main fleet, all hoping to build on their successes – and most of all will be aiming to have fun hanging around with friends, racing, and generally messing about in boats.  We wish all of our sailors the very best of luck!

Sailors registered for this weekend are:-

Georgia Phillips, Aimee Stephenson, Tommy Willett, Ben Willett, Ollie Vowles, Maddie Vowles, Aled Llewelyn-Jones, Duncan Lloyd-Evans, Miles Everett and Luc James.
